ABOUT NARELLE HORWITZ

Perinatal Psychologist, Doula, Childbirth Educator

& International Trainer

Narelle’s unique mix of training as a psychologist, doula and childbirth educator (and experience as a mother of three) provides her with an in depth understanding of the needs of pregnant women and new mothers. She believes in the importance of evidence based interventions and values every woman as an individual with their own life experience and hopes for the future.

As well running her own busy practice she supports up and coming birth professionals as a trainer with Childbirth International’s birth doula, postpartum doula and childbirth educator courses. In this role she has the opportunity to influence the skills and philosophies of many of Childbirth International’s 5000+ students who come from over 100 different countries. Narelle embraces the opportunity to support the needs of both pregnant and postnatal families and the professionals who work with them.

Prior to gaining employment exclusively in the Child and Family sector in 2006, her early career established her broader understanding and provided experience in working with conditions which may impact on but are not exclusive to the perinatal period. This includes issues such as drug and alcohol addiction, mental health, domestic violence and survivors of trauma and abuse.

With the births of her own children she became increasingly aware of the multitude of challenges faced by women through pregnancy, birth and the postnatal period which lead her to pursue further training in the birth field as a doula and childbirth educator.

Narelle is empathetic, warm and dedicated to helping her clients find workable solutions to their concerns.
